(AN AIRMAN'S TALE)
BY MIKE WALSH

Mike was born in Northampton in 1931, moving up to Scarborough in 1932. After  an  un-remarkable childhood and school career he joined the Royal Air Force in 1949 to complete  his National Service.  However, he remained in the RAF until 1972. His book, The First Forty Years tells of the early days in and around what became his home town,  and then follows the story of twenty-two years  in the RAF, from Padgate to Aden, via Hong Kong, Cyprus, Japan and Singapore, calling in at  Florida, Northern Ireland and Canada. The story is told as it happened, and any items left out are only due to his poor memory----after all, it started seventy five years ago.....
