The three
Comet photo's were taken at setting up of the show in Derby 1980s
'ish. The aircraft had been mounted on frames, the single axle 40ft trailer was reversed under the aircraft and then secured to the trailer. The aircraft with wings removed had been cut in half hence two sections. The show toured Britain for the summer season which for me was a great job.
At a show in Weymouth on the sea front a couple with a 7/8 year old lad who was in a wheelchair approached the steps to
the aircraft. It was clear it was impossible to take the lad aboard. As we were stood there 5 or
6 skin heads with rings in the nose etc came to the lad and after a very few brief words they picked
him out of the wheelchair and carried him aboard putting him in the pilots seat etc,
they then returned him to two very worried parents......
a very clear lesson of don't judge a book !! |
